Sweeps

Standard Sweep - Stove/Open Fire - £60

For a log burner or multifuel stove with a liner fitted, or for an open fire it is important for your own safety and the appliances efficiency that they are swept regularly (I suggest Annually) A standard sweep is an initial appliance inspection along with of the sweep appliance. After a successful sweep, a NACS Certificate will be issued per appliance (These can be used for house insurance purposes/On the market purposes)

Unlined Stove - £70

For an unlined stove, where there is no flexible liner fitted to the stove, a little more work is required, and it is often awkward work! I will carry out the Initial inspection and sweep as usual, however the debris and soot that is deposited, will need removing from the "closure plate".

Kitchen Appliances (Aga/Rayburn) - £95

When sweeping a kitchen appliance such as an Aga or Rayburn, there is a larger amount of work that is needed. There are multiple chambers to clean along with the main flue that needs to be swept, I'll have my work cut out for me. But not to worry, with the experience that I have, it will  take around an Hour and a Half from start to finish. At then end it'll look like the appliance has just been installed!

Jetmaster Firebox - £70

Often conceived as an open fire, this appliance has an interesting design. They have a little lever on them that opens and closes the baffle plate acting like a vent, it takes some dismantling in order to sweep the flue. Once dismantled and swept, there are multiple faces and ledges that will need to be cleaned and left free of debris. The appliance is reassembled and is then good to go!

Inglenooks - £130

Very rarely found in these modern times, an Inglenook is an open fire with a very large opening. Due to the shear size of them, more time is needed to sweep this type of appliance. The bulk of the work is what we sweeps call the "sheeting up process". This process is to contain the dust and debris within the appliance.

Gas Fire - £70

When sweeping a Gas fire, a Gas Safe engineer must be arranged to disconnect and remove the appliance, before sweeping. Once the chimney has been swept and all debris has been removed, the Gas Safe engineer can then refit and reconnect the appliance.

Specialist Services

Supply and Fit of Bird Guards/Caps - £120

As a sweep, I offer more services. Over time, the weather takes effect, and outdoor components such as Bird guards corrode and wear away. This along with birds trying to nest in Chimneys with open fires, can be problematic. But not to fear, with my ladders ready on my van, and plenty of high quality cowls and cappers in stock, I am able to help anyone in need!

Bird Nest Removal - £140

When encountered, some nests will come down with relative ease. However, some can be challenging and time consuming. If the nest is well established and has been there for multiple years, my expertise and specialist attachments, along with a little elbow grease we can make the chimney or flue compliment once again! All bird nest removals include removal of nest from Chimney/Flue, removal of debris from property, and A CCTV inspection to ensure all debris has been removed.

Inspections and Maintenance Services

CCTV Camera Inspection - £100

On occasions, when something doesn't feel or seem right, or just for general inspection, a CCTV Inspection can be extremely useful. It allows me to determine the suitability of the Chimney/Flue for it's purpose. For example when customers buy a property and there is no previous certification for the appliance, I am able to inspect and certify the appliance (A certificate will be issued)

Door Rope Seal Replacement - £20/£25

When being open and closed constantly, the door rope seals go through some work. This causes them to wear and fray. Not to worry, in the van I have multiple sizes of soft and hard rope, ready for your appliance. When replacing the rope on a Stove door, when possible I will remove the door and take it to the van, where all tools and ropes are at reach. Removing the original rope, and cleaning the grooves with a wire brush, ready for some high temperature silicone and the new rope, it is normally a fairly straight forward job. Refit the door, and that is that, a new rope seal installed.

Stove Glass Replacement

During the winter months, Stoves can get through their fair share of work and this can take it's toll. The heating and cooling process can eventually effect the integrity of the glass. This Combined with logs that may fall onto the glass while burning, can cause various defects. Do not worry, as long we know the make and model of the Stove, we can order a replacement for installation.

Stove Brick Replacement

Just like the glass, the fire bricks within the Stove, are exposed to varying temperatures. Protecting the casing of the stove (the metal shell) they can often crack and crumble over time. Often made of Vermiculite, they are fairly easy to replace, however when models have certain shaped bricks, replacements will need to be ordered.
